Much of the great music of the western hemisphere represents a blending of cultures. While some may wring their hands about cultural purity, or over-intellectualize about this “Americanization,” most musicians themselves are more concerned with one question: “Does it sound good?”
We the organizers the Unity Fest believe that this cultural blending does not have to compete with the preservation of the many rich musical traditions of the new world. Both can AND SHOULD exist with innovators and curators walking hand in hand.
While no one event can feature all of the styles of our multiculture, for this, our inaugural event, we have found a beautiful mix of Reggae, Blues, Funk, Rock, and Soul music.
These groups celebrating diversity and integration are set against the backdrop of the Westside Motor Lounge, promising a vibrant atmosphere filled with eclectic sounds and community spirit.
The lineup features an array of genres and artists. We have reggae with The Natti Love Joys; blues, rock and funk with Divided By 5; consummate soul man, Leonard Julien III, and soul, blues and funk from the host band, the Venus Kings. The show finale will be a spontaneous jam with members from all the bands.
This family-friendly event is designed to be enjoyable for all ages, making it the perfect opportunity to gather with friends and family. Join us for a day that embraces the richness of the diverse Atlanta culture through the universal language of music.
